Nogal en Chile: el cultivo que m\u00e1s creci\u00f3 en valor y lo que el clima tiene que\nver<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

El nogal chileno no fue siempre la estrella que es hoy. Durante a\u00f1os fue un cultivo
secundario en la fruticultura nacional, opacado por la cereza, la palta y la uva. Pero en la
temporada 2024\/25, con exportaciones de US$518 millones FOB y un alza del 33% en valor
con vol\u00famenes estables, el nogal sin c\u00e1scara se convirti\u00f3 en el protagonista silencioso de
los boletines de ODEPA.<\/p>


El alza de precio fue consecuencia directa de la reducci\u00f3n de oferta global: la producci\u00f3n
estadounidense cay\u00f3 por problemas clim\u00e1ticos, el precio FOB subi\u00f3 de US$5,79 a US$8,17
por kilo en un a\u00f1o, y los productores chilenos que ten\u00edan nuez para vender cobraron
m\u00e1rgenes que hac\u00eda a\u00f1os no ve\u00edan.<\/p>


\u00bfPero qui\u00e9nes ten\u00edan nuez para vender? Los que hab\u00edan gestionado bien el clima de toda la
temporada.<\/p>


En O’Higgins y el Maule, el invierno 2024 fue desafiante en t\u00e9rminos de acumulaci\u00f3n de
horas fr\u00edo. En algunas zonas, la acumulaci\u00f3n estuvo por debajo del promedio hist\u00f3rico,
generando brotaciones irregulares en predios con variedades de alto requerimiento de fr\u00edo.<\/p>


En los predios donde se hab\u00eda monitoreado la acumulaci\u00f3n de horas fr\u00edo semana a semana
\u2014usando la estaci\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica agr\u00edcola de Globalmet\u2014, los productores pudieron
aplicar inducci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica de dormancia a tiempo para compensar el d\u00e9ficit. Resultado:
brotaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s uniforme, mejor cuajado, mayor porcentaje de fruta con calibre y calidad de
exportaci\u00f3n.<\/p>


En verano, los predios con monitoreo diario de evapotranspiraci\u00f3n y riego ajustado
mantuvieron el suelo sin d\u00e9ficit durante el llenado de la nuez \u2014el per\u00edodo cr\u00edtico para el
porcentaje de almendra y el calibre. Porcentaje de almendra m\u00e1s alto significa precio FOB
m\u00e1s alto: los exportadores de nuez pagan premios de precio por porcentajes sobre 48%.
Los meteor\u00f3logos expertos de Globalmet trabajan con productores de nogal en los valles
del Cachapoal, Tinguiririca y Colchagua con un protocolo de monitoreo clim\u00e1tico adaptado a
las etapas cr\u00edticas de este cultivo: horas fr\u00edo en invierno, alertas de helada en floraci\u00f3n
primaveral, riego por evapotranspiraci\u00f3n en llenado estival, y pron\u00f3stico de ventanas secas
en cosecha de marzo a mayo.<\/p>


Con nuez a US$8 por kilo, cada decisi\u00f3n de manejo basada en datos tiene retorno
inmediato. Y cada decisi\u00f3n tomada sin datos es una oportunidad perdida en el cultivo m\u00e1s
rentable de Chile en 2025.<\/p>\n
