Es m\u00e1s informativo que la temperatura<br>sola y m\u00e1s preciso que la humedad relativa sola, porque integra ambas variables en un<br>\u00fanico n\u00famero que representa la &#8220;sed&#8221; que tiene el aire de absorber humedad del entorno.<\/p><p><br><\/p><p>Cuando el VPD es bajo \u2014aire fresco y h\u00famedo\u2014 la diferencia entre la humedad del aire y<br>la capacidad m\u00e1xima del aire de retener vapor es peque\u00f1a. La planta transpira poco. Su<br>demanda h\u00eddrica es baja. Cuando el VPD es alto \u2014aire caliente y seco\u2014 esa diferencia es<br>grande y la planta transpira intensamente para mantener el turgor celular. Si no tiene<br>suficiente agua disponible en el suelo, entra en estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico.<\/p><p><br>Los meteor\u00f3logos expertos de Globalmet calculan el VPD en tiempo real a partir de los<br>datos de temperatura y humedad relativa de la estaci\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica agr\u00edcola del predio.<br>El indicador se integra directamente al c\u00e1lculo de evapotranspiraci\u00f3n y a las<br>recomendaciones diarias de riego, pero tambi\u00e9n tiene aplicaciones en manejo sanitario:<br>valores de VPD muy bajos sostenidos por horas indican condiciones de alta humedad<br>relativa que favorecen hongos como botrytis, oidio y mildiu.<\/p><p><br>En el aguacate Hass, el VPD es particularmente relevante durante el cuajado. VPD por<br>encima de 2,5 kPa durante varias horas consecutivas puede reducir la receptividad del<br>estigma femenino y limitar la polinizaci\u00f3n. VPD por encima de 3,5 kPa durante el cuajado<br>provoca la abscisi\u00f3n de frutos j\u00f3venes. Con la alerta de VPD que entrega el sistema de<br>Globalmet, el productor puede activar microaspersi\u00f3n para elevar la humedad relativa local<br>y bajar el VPD durante las horas cr\u00edticas del d\u00eda.<\/p><p><br>En hortalizas bajo invernadero o con cultivo protegido, el VPD es la variable de manejo de<br>mayor impacto en el crecimiento y calidad del producto.
